For those of you who use your MBP kinda like a desktop:
Thing is...
So should us "desktop-style" MBP owners with vertical stands really be taking our MBP out the stand, lying it flat on the table and running for a few hours off battery every 2 or 3 days?
Seems to counteract the convenience of the original stand IMO. If I need to take it out the stand and do this every 2 or 3 days for the next few years, I might as well make deskspace to do this, in which case I might as well get a stand that lets it work with the screen open.
Or am I missing something? Any vertical "desktoppers" care to chime in?

- in clamshell mode
- in a vertical stand
- connected to a separate monitor

Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. AppleCare support recommends that if you leave your Mac plugged in most of the time, unplug it every 2 or 3 days and run on battery down to somewhere around 50%, then plug it back in. That keeps the electrons moving.
