I've read a lot about 'faulty' video card in the last generation mbp's, and i've had to restart my laptop twice in the last week for this recurring issue. The computer becomes fairly unresponsive, and there is a verticle line that appears on the screen.

Is there a test i can run, i haven't had the best experience with the genius bar people, and if i can't re create the issue they might not do much. So is this just a random thing that happens, or does it seem related to the faulty video cards.

my laptop is 2.5 4 gig ram, 512 vid card.

thanks.

mine was acting all choppy on video and image downloading today, which forced me to restart.

Its fine now, but this has happened before, and I called apple care and was told to turn it off, take out the battery, hold the power button for 5 seconds, and then put the battery back in and restart.
