I have a late 2014 mac mini (i5 2core 2.6, 8gb) and I am thinking about upgrading my main working computer. I work in logic pro x and with its recent update my mac started having problems in handling all plugins and multitracks. So i thought it was time to get a new MBP. But after some reading and watching reviews I became quite hesitant if 13” mbp was suitable for me: initially I was thinking about the base 2020 model, then - about $1799 model with 16gb of RAM and i5 10th gen. Some reviews say that more powerful 13” models have same overheating problems as a base model, and despite 2 coolers they begin to stutter under heavy tasks. So now I don’t know what model to get - I need a portable solution for mixing and recording and I need it to be significantly better than a late 2014 mac mini. Can a 13” MBP be ok or I need to save money for a 16” MBP? I don’t want to buy a macbook with a butterfly keyboard so 2020 models are my only options, i guess?
