Has anyone seen a review of the screen difference being MacBook Pro is brighter with True Tone? I can totally see the difference in quality between the MacBook Pro and MacBook. Will the air have a similar screen as the MacBook 12 inch?

There was an Apple insider article on the new MBA that was up yesterday ( it's been taken down now for whatever reason) but it did say exactly what you asked above. In comparison of the two displays, MBP was brighter and MBA didn't have True Tone. It didn't compare the MBA with the MacBook though, so can't comment on that part.

too bad they took it down. I wonder when reviews will go up

MacBook Pro is 500 nits brightness, Air is 300 nits. MacBook Pro has True Tone, Air does not.

Undoubtedly, the Pro has a better screen.

In addition to what has already been said; the Pro screen features a P3 colour gamut, Air does not.

For the average user the Air screen will be a perfect display (I shouldn't expect anything less for the price)

where does apple list 300 nits for the retina air? I am also wondering on real world battery if the air gets 2 hours more than the 13 tb MacBook Pro. hope some reviews come out.

I believe the Air pretty much has the panel from the 2015 13" MBP by the sounds of things? So everything you gained on the 2016 update (plus true tone from 2018) is lost with the Air.

2015 was prior to the redesign?

Just go to the Apple Mac page and on the right click compare models. This is what it shows when you compare the Air redesign to the MBP line

I couldn't find that comparison. thanks! So retina air is not IPS? what does liquid retina add over MacBook Pro?

the 13" has the same panel as the 12" since this is more like a bigger 12" Macbook

how does that make it liquid retina? is there any factual backup that the retina air is using the current 12 inch MacBook screen?

Didn't know it was 300 nits and sRGB!

Dang, I feel even better about my 2016 nTB (even with a non-3rd gen keyboard)

Liquid Retina doesn't mean anything. The L in LCD has always stood for Liquid.

Reviews are out indicating mbp has better screen. Gruber talks about brightness in his review. I hesitate to trade my 2017 MacBook Pro for the new air. I want p3 True Tone with 20 hours of battery running Mac OS. This ain’t it.

I agree, if it were me I would definitely keep the MBP. Even with all its potential issues, it is the superior machine, not only in terms of performance, and that's not really going to change. Apple will likely keep on reserving a better screen, speakers, etc. to the Pro lineup, similar to how they do with the iPads. Just look at how many years it took them to bring the Retina display to the MBA.

And Verge talks about the Air screen being dim in their review.

The Pro has a much better screen. The Air is gonna be fine for most consumers, but if you have a choice it's clear the Pro is the better screen.

I am in the market, and was pretty set on the new Air until I happened to see a 13" MBP right next to a new Air today. While both screens were nice, the MBP screen seemed to have way more depth to the color. Perhaps more contrast. I checked and both were at the same color profile, and both on the same photo. I also tried to equalize the brightness. Again, both were nice but side by side the MBP was really impressive.

Does the air offer anything over the pro. I looked at them side by side in the apple store and the air does have a cool factor.

Saw another YouTube video and they explained that liquid retina only means that the screen curves in the corners ( not right angle ) or perhaps you could say it is fluid but has absolutely nothing to do with the screen itself being brighter or better looking.
