Hey all, I'm curious if anyone has run into this issue before.

I have a 2012 cMBP which suddenly started having difficulties receiving WiFi signal. At this point it can't join a WiFi network unless it's super close to the router. At home it works fine because I'm generally within 15 feet of my router, but public wifi generally won't work. Often I have to tether to my phone to connect to public wifi. Sometimes if I close the lid 75% it can suddenly seen and sometimes join the networks.

Have any of you run into this problem before? What was the cause/ solution? I'm wondering if maybe the antenna in the screen has gone bunk which I suspect will need a replacement screen (=$$$). Maybe there's an antenna wire that's come lose on the logic board?

Thanks for reading.

I would check to see if the antenna leads became detached/severed from the wifi/BT module. You can check on iFixit for the instructions for getting the bottom cover off. The Wifi/BT module is next to the DVD drive. There are 4 leads. Make sure they are well attached and none of the cables are pinched/severed.
