Sometimes when I wake up my MBP (2012 classic, running 10.9.5) it gives me fits. Sometimes it freezes and I have to wait for it to time out again, then wake it up with the power button. Sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times, so it can take up to 60-90 seconds to wake up my sleeping MBP from time to time. And sometimes I have to hold the power button down to kill it completely and cold boot. But I've noted a common denominator when this occurs.
If the computer is plugged in and asleep, and I unplug it before opening the cover it happens. Or if it's asleep on battery power and I plug it in before I open it up it does it. It seems related to changing power source prior to waking. So if I open it to wake it up, THEN unplug it its fine. Is this common? Or is it common knowledge that I've only recently discovered?
