I was wondering what exactly determines the clock speed on my 1.83 MBP. Are the processors individually rated for say 1.83 and 2.0...or is a 2.0 simply an overclocked 1.83...suggesting that it may be possible to jack up a 1.83 170MHz.

I dont hear much about Apple-folk overclocking their machines, but im simply curious...chances are I would not try it out myself.

Intel rates their chips as to their quality. The higher quality the chip, the faster the speed its sold at. I'm sure a 1.83Ghz chip would have no issues whatsoever running at 2.0Ghz, however, at this present moment in time there are no overclocking tools for the Intel machines.
