My Macbook is about six months old and I have always been able to use any headphones I want but now if I plug in my headphones, my music still plays through my internal speakers. The only way sound will play through headphones is if I use iPhone headphones. How do I fix this?

is it a 13 inch model? You may have accidentally changed your output to an input. check it under sound in system prefs
It is a 13 inch, but it is on output. I just think it is weird that only iPhone headphones work and I have no idea why
