On Christmas day I'm going to be helping a relative set up a brand new MacBook Pro... Their first Mac. I'm pretty excited for them.
Their ISP is AOL, high-speed. I'm going to need to know how to connect their new Mac to AOL.
When I offered to help, it hadn't dawned on me that I've never even set up an Internet connection for a Mac. My router was already configured when I bought my first Mac.
I have no idea where to begin. I don't even know if AOL high-speed is Cable or DSL. I suspect it's DSL.
I know the relatives do not have a wireless router. But I also know that some high-speed modems have wireless connectivity built right in. No idea if AOL's does or not. Anybody know?
What else do I need to know? I did find their Mac Downloads site. Is my best bet to just download the "AOL Connect" app, and avoid AOL's All-in-one garbage?
Any other tips?
Thanks.
