MBP with external display

I bought the Mini Display Port to DVI adapter for my MBP and I also have a DELL 2007WFP display with DVI port. I use the mirror mode. Can I fold my MBP when using the external display so that I can keep away dust? Where is the setting?

There is no setting in OS X to do this.

Most people use InsomniaX, which just allows you to disable sleep mode, so you can close the lid without interrupting your session.

Assuming you have an external keyboard, after you close the lid, just hit a button and the computer will awaken.
