MBP Won't boot to installer CD!

That's it. I have about had it with these things. This is the second one of these I've gone through and I get another piece of ****. I am trying to boot the OSX Install CD to use disk utility to copy an image to the completely blank drive on the laptop. When I try and boot to it, I just hear the cd spinning up and slowing down, spinning up and slowing down.

Edit: CD is bad. Great.
