MBP wont play a DVD while MP will

I have a TV show that can only be played in region two DVD players, DVD Player in OS X is set to play them in region 1. I am able to use VLC to watch the movie on my MacPro but i cant on my MacBook Pro. VLC is updated on both Macs and so is the OS.

Is there something i am missing?
