My Macbook Pro cannot recognize any USB device. So far I've tried a Garmin Edge 500 and a Contour roam camera. THe devices will light up and charge, however, they don't show up in the Finder or desktop. They don't even show up in Disk Utility. It's weird because my iPhone is fine. It will show up in iTunes, sync, etc.

Anyone else encounter a similar issue?

First look under USB in System Profiler if those devices show up, if yes then there's nothing wrong with the USB ports nor the devices but the drivers, have you checked if you need software for them, is use as HD(Mass storage) enabled on those devices, many times you can switch this of or on.
