My MBP will not stay shut when I close it it stays ajar.

My powerbook G4 started to do that. It was because the latch was not being ejected as it was closing. Managed to fix it by bending the latch ever so slightly. The powerbook is over 4 years old!
I would NOT recommend you doing this if you have AppleCare. Just take it in to a Store.
