Good afternoon everyone. I really hope that someone can assist me on this.

I stupidly (Slaps own face v hard) put my MBP on the floor and my son put his foot on the trackpad (I didn't see it but my sister thinks that he did not put his full weight on the trackpad).

When I press and release the power button, as you would when you usually turn it on, the light on the front lid release button turns on but then turns off.

If I hold the power button down for a few seconds it stays on and the hard drive wakes up and starts spinning but as soon as I release the power button it powers off instantly. If you keep holding the power button after 10 seconds the light on the front panel flashes rapidly and then switches off.

It is a MBP4,1 and I bought it in 2008. It had a replacement top plate in 2012.

Anyone got any ideas of what this sounds like? Logic board? Power button?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

open the macbook and check for loose connections, remove the battery and check the trackpad and the keyboard ribbon.
