MBP won't wake from sleep using apple Remote and display recover from sleep in clamsh

I have two problems ATM with my MBP.

I'm trying to use XBMC.. i.e. my MBP as a HTPC.

However:

1) MBP 2011 w/Mountain Lion will not wake from sleep using the Apple remote

2) If the MBP is in closed mode and sleeps, it will not recover the visual input to my Samsung Plasma TV. This never used to be the case until lion/ML.

Any fixes please?
