I currently have a 13" MacBook Pro with 640GB 4GB memory and I'm awaiting for my 128GB SSD to arrive and curious those who have ~128GB SSD installed in their MBP where you put your additional libraries? (iPhoto, iTunes, Aperture).
I need my DVD drive to play back DVD films and to record to DVD for video projects.
currently i have a 5400rpm 640GB drive, but want to try out the SSD for better performance and have no moving parts in my system for more reliability.
I was thinking of this; using my MBP similar to my iPad:
on the 128GB SSD internal...Apps/OS, one small itunes library (with compressed lossless music to 128Kbps aac) so that its always with me
Then have a second iTunes library on my 640GB FireWire800 powered drive (with full lossless audio and tv shows/movies), large iPhoto library, Aperture library and Logic Projects.
Both drives will be backed up to one 2TB drive via Time Machine and then cloned over to another 2TB drive partitioned 128GB & 640GB for a bootable backup.
But if others have various ideas or experiences would be good to know how you manage your set up.
