MBP16 box weight?

I'm planning to visit NY from abroad this year and that's also a great opportunity to buy a MBP! To avoid customs when returning to Europe, I will have the MBP in my hand luggage and either have the box in my checked-in luggage or better yet, mail it from the US back to me.
Can anybody please give me the weight, and if it's not too much trouble, exact dimensions of the MBP box (box only, no cables, adapters etc) just to have an idea what the USPS shipping costs would be?

It arrives "double" boxed when shipped. There is a brown typical shipping box on the outside with padding, then the inner white product box. The white box is about 10.5" x 15" x 2.25" and weighs about 1.75 lbs empty.

Good luck getting through customs out of the US these days in that matter. Electronics exports are being very closely monitored. Declare your stuff and do it legally.

Firstly, thank you for your answer about the dimensions and weight. However, I don't understand what you mean about clearing customs out of the US. You go through customs only when you arrive at your destination. It's only the empty box that may be stopped when entering Europe (if I mail it); I don't see what the problem will be if I go through the security checks with a used laptop in my hand luggage.

You're supposed to declare tech purchases on exit or self-report through customs office. Depending on the destination, there are export restrictions for USA tech exiting the country that needs to be adhered to as well. If not, they want to see a boomerang carnet (that it will re-enter the USA) with almost any modern MacBook Pro product due to the total value.

People get away with this all the time, but does not mean it is legal or abiding by USA export laws. Many more restrictions are being placed on tech leaving the country in the past 2-3 years and they do (usually randomly) question people without return tickets. Each airport is different and everyone's experience is not exactly the same.
