On the cusp of purchasing my first ever macbook pro (first ever Mac for that matter, lifelong Windows & Ubuntu user). I'm set on a 13" base model and I've been comparing the 2015 & 2016 side by side in a shop for weeks now. Pretty sure I'm going to go for the 2015 given I really don't like the new keyboard. But my one snag is what appears to be some UI lag/stutter on the 2015, most notably (but elsewhere too) during window transitions to full screen mode. It's just not smooth animation compared to the same animations running on the 2016.
What I'm not sure about is whether the root cause is hardware or software. The 2015 display model in the shop is running Yosemite vs Sierra on the 2016. I've read here and on other sites about UI lag issues in Yosemite, remedied with upgrades to El Capitan, but the scenarios described were not exactly what I'm seeing.
So I'm looking for owners of a 2015 13" MBPr who've run both Yosemite and Sierra (or El Capitan) and whether you've observed any improvements with UI animations/transitions with an OS upgrade. Or if the smoother experience I'm seeing on the 2016 is the newer Intel integrated gpu's.
Thx!
