¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The System Information on my late 2013 MBPr says the SSD is an "APPLE SSD SD0256F". It's a 256 GB model.

Does anyone know which brand this is?

Also, I know in the past that Apple has installed different brands in the same machine - is this the case (as far as is known) regarding the late 2013 model?

I am wondering because of this OWC article:

many thanks
Philip

For 128GB and 256GB, you're playing the SanDisk/Samsung lottery. In the 256GB ones, the Samsung one is faster than the SanDisk by 150MB/s in writes.

Samsung is the sole supplier for 512GB and 1TB.

Thanks guys, very helpful. I'll have to return the computer anyway (screen attached slightly askew and some keyboard keys loose and "floppy") so perhaps I'll get the Samsung 256 in the next round.

Again thanks
Philip

Good luck. So far, there seems to be more SD0256Fs than SM0256Fs around.

I went for the 512GB in my 13" rMBP because I didn't want to play the lottery :)

I have the SanDisk SSD and it's blazing fast. I would assume there isn't much of a difference.

Ok so I did the BlackMagic Disk Speed test and the write IS in fact different. Mine is about 570 while the Samsung is around 730 from what I've seen.

The good news is read is mainly what matters for me because that's for opening files, etc. which for me is 730.
