Hi all,

Looking for some tech help with external displays (I'm a complete novice).

So I have a Macbook Pro Retina Early 2015 and recently purchased a 23.8" (HP 243m) external display. The display was showing at 1080p (but extremely blurry), via HDMI and Lightning. Anyway, purchased SwitchResX and there was a hidden HiDPI (Resolution) for 720p.

Been running this for a while, but would ideally like to maximise the display capability of 1080p. So came across this article (https://medium.com/comsystoreply/force-hidpi-resolutions-for-dell-u2515h-monitor-5304e5506214) which links to another (https://codeclou.github.io/Display-...or-with-HiDPI-Support-For-Scaled-Resolutions/) which essentially states that the Mac has to be forced to show 1080p at HiDPI/Retina Resolution by creating a root folder in System. However, with system integrity protection enabled, I'm unable to circumvent it, nor do I feel comfortable deactivating it.

Now on to the second option - creating a custom resolution on SwitchResX. There are a number of posts on several forums on how people managed to create a custom resolution. The problem is, I have zero idea what I am doing and looking for advice on what numbers to use so my display shows at 1080p HiDPI/Retina. For reference, I have attached the numbers for 720p retina, which is what my display is currently showing at.

Thanks!
