MBPr Display Issue?

My MacBook Pro Retina was in sleep mode. I open up the lid and I see this. What is this?? Some kind of display issue?

I had a similar problem on my Mid/Late 2007 MacBook Pro. I think it was related to the GPU.

Have you tried a PRAM reset? That fixed it for me, at least temporarily.

Haven't tried resetting PRAM. It has disappeared for now. If it happens again I'll try your suggestion. My MBPr fell twice hard onto marble floor this past week. About three feet high. Could this be it?

Oh no. A few days ago I had my laptop closed on a table and didn't realize it was right on the edge when it fell flat on its face. The sound was so loud. Hurried to check if everything's working fine and it seemed so. Yesterday I was carrying it with one hand when it slipped. Very painful to see. I seriously hope nothing is damaged.
