Hi,

My laptop's battery suddenly died and, ever since, my computer is absolutely unusable. It's not slow, it's unusable. It takes 2 minutes to launch Safari or Chrome... it's just ridiculous. My 133mhz pentium was way faster than my 2,4ghz core i5 (clocked down to 800mhz) and it's absurd that Apple would do that purposefully to its customers.

So, menu bar says "No Battery Available". Yet, right below it says "Power Source: Battery". Current battery charge is 0%, it won't charge. If power cable is removed, the laptop will shutdown instantly.

It appears that the system is underclocking itself to "preserve power" and extend usage time, because it thinks that the battery is the power source and it's at 0%. At the same time, it says "no battery", and the power source is actually the power adapter, because the battery is dead.

Tried lots of things, like resetting PRAM/SMC, deleting .PLIST files within IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext, running Disk Util->First Aid... nothing worked so far.

Replacing the battery would cost me the same as a new computer, so that's not an option for me (Apple product's prices in Brazil are outrageous, even for replacements)...

I have no idea on how to restore my processor's perfomance. Maybe by forcing the system to recognize it's running on power adapter, not on battery... or changing some .kext file. No idea.

MBPro Retina (13-inch, late 2013) running Sierra 10.12.1.

Can anybody help me?

Thank you

Sorry but that's the way Apple has designed it. Without a good battery installed, power regulation throttles the CPU and bus speed. Nothing you can do about it that I know of but to replace the battery or buy a newer MBP. Surely there must be third party batteries available there in Brazil that you can buy?
