Hey,
I've got the following little problem:
I've got 2 Macbook Pro's, connected to a 24" HP Display with a VGA connection
The display works fine with my new unibody MacBook Pro, but when I connect it to my older MBPro the problems arise.
When I run a task that requires a bit of memory, processing power or taxes the GPU a lot (e.g. running a superduper backup, transcoding a movie file, or even just loading a Safari website with a large java script), the image on the external monitor starts flickering, or shifting
The image on the display seems to shift one pixel to the right and back, making the image moving all the time.
Quite annoying.
After running some tests it seems to be a problem with my older MacBook Pro.
I've replaced the "DVI to VGA adapter", which gave the same result
I connected the VGA cable to my new unibody MBPro and it works fine.
But if I connect the VGA cable to my older MacBook Pro, the problem arises.
So my question now: does anyone have this problem also?
If so:
1) Can it cause damage to my monitor?
2) Is it solvable?
3) Even if there is no solution: any idea what may be causing it?
thanks
Thomas
ah, I forgot:
the MacBook is a a 2,33Ghz C2D, 3Gb Ram, 15", 256MB graphics model.
