********** PLEASE HELP*********
Hi, Earlier today my laptop was working perfectly, I shut it down and put it on charge because when I was shutting it down I noticed my battery had only 40 mins or so remaining.

About 2hrs later I plugged in my external hard drive (that I use with this computer all the time) then turned it on and my finder wasn't recognising the external drive which can happen occasionally when i plug it in too early during start up!!! So i left it plugged in and selected restart just so it would detect it, but when it booted it back up all my desktop files/ folders had vanished? My display settings have all changed back to some default settings eg. background picture, my dock is now displaying things I never had there and has removed my final cut pro and all the other programs I had there??? All of my photos/ music etc have vanished, I've searched my Mac HD and its like everything has been erased?

I dont know how or why this happened, because nothing has happened to the machine, it was working 100% perfect...

So out of curiosity I ran the apple hardware test and its displaying error code 4SNS/1/40000000: TGOD.... I've browsed the web and Its coming up with different things for this error code from temperature problems to logic boards to some people having to get their Mac HD replaced!!!!:mad::mad: But my computer was working perfectly and I don't think its related to any of these issues.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it might be or how I can fix it??? Please reply if you can be of any help with this, Thanks, Tracy;)
