(1) 8 wks ago small amount of water spilled on left side of open mbpro. I powered off, ensured everything was dry, 24 hrs later booted fine and worked for 6 weeks perfectly.

(2) 2 wks ago screen showed a small glitch and everything shut down. Unable to reboot, hangs on mac logo with spinning gear and either goes to a grey screen (usually) or sometimes a blue screen.

(3) Ruled out hard drive since it boots on another machine and a good hard drive hangs the same way on the problem machine.

(4) Tried all the standard fixes (reset pram, etc., safe mode, erase/reinstall osx, and so on)

(5) One fishy message I get when attempting to boot in safe mode:

BootCacheControl: Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist 2 No such . . .

(6) Last two lines upon hang:

AirPort: RSN handshake complete on en1
[AGPM Controller] build GPUDict by Vendor [blah blah blah]

THEN IT HANGS

(7) Add. information: I updated to mountain lion not many weeks before the problem.

Any thoughts/suggestions? I know it could have to do with the water, but it worked flawlessly for weeks afterward.

I'll add

I have booted in safe mode twice out of about 50 tries. It eventually locks up once again in safe mode.
