Has anyone been successful in using Dell P2715Q monitor in 4k with mid 2012 Mac Book Pro Retina? I know it is good with 2013 and beyond but no one has mentioned 2012

You aren't going to get 4K @ 60Hz using a mid-2012 rMBP. Your only chance would be to simulate it using a monitor that supports Picture-By-Picture mode with DP and/or HDMI. Even if you find a model that does that, your performance will probably suffer due to your computer driving 3 displays plus nasty tearing in PBP mode.

I wanted to find a way to get an acceptable refresh rate at 4K with my monitor, but gave up and purchased a Dell U2515H.
