Hello.
I have MBR 15 mid 2014 with core i7 4980HQ (2.8Ghz up 4.00 in TB), 1TB SSD, GT750M. HS OS.
It have only 22 cycles of recharge, rarerly used notebook.:)

I install MAС fanControl.
And in browsing in Safari, watching youtube in 1080p it warm up to 40-50C.
But when i load it, for example with Final Cut Pro(export file with color correction etc) the temperature jumps in 1 second from 45-50C to 80C, and then to 95. After a minute temp remains at 95-98C and fans runs at 4000-5000.

I repaste thermo compound. I used Arctic MX-4. But nothing to change.
I again repaste, because i think that i spread a lot of compound, but also nothing to change. o_O

I run prime95 under MAC OS. In Torque test in In-place large FFTs notebook works well with 95-98C and fans run at 6000.I test for 10 minutes. When i start test temp rise from 40C to 95C in 2 second!
I opened the case and put down my finger to heatsink under the CPU, put down on the heatpipe under CPU. In youtube watching the heatpipe in cool. When i run Prim95 in one second heatpipe has become to very-very hot. After 5 seconds all heatsink is very-very hot.
I conclude that heat transfer between CPU and heatsink is very good.

This is problem of top i7 hottest CPU or what?

I have second MPR 15 late 2013 with i7 4750HQ (2.0 ghz up to 3.2 in TB) without discrete card. When i run Prime95 in it temp rises more slowly. 40C > 55C > 70C > 90C. I look at Intel web-page and find, than TDP is same at 2.0ghz CPU and 2.8 ghz and it is 47wt! This cannot be! Why Intel writes same TDP in low level CPU and top CPU?

I want to understand: this is normal situation with i7 4980HQ CPU in Macbook?
Are Intel right when says about same TDP in 2.0ghz and 2.8ghz?
Why the temperature rise with big jump in full load? 40C then 80C and then 90?
Cooling system of MPR15 is too slight for hottest i7?

Thank you.

PS
While a write the post in Safari and listing the music in Itunes temperature is 40-43C. In room is 22C.

It’s perfectly normal. The CPU can safely operate at that temperature and it shouldn’t be surprising that it gehts hot when you push it to its limits.
