Hey guys my university put mcafee on my mbp for free and im suspecting this is why my battery is life is so bad. I just dragged the icons into the trash, is this the right way to uninstall it? My little icon is still in the top though? How do i get rid of it

The only effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
You don't need McAfee or any other antivirus to protect your Mac. No viruses exist in the wild that can run on Mac OS X, and there never have been any, since it was released 10 years ago. The handful of trojans that exist can be easily avoided with some basic education, common sense and care in what software you install:

Ok i turned the comp off and the little M with a shield is still at the top next to my wifi signal and time?

mcafee was on my computer i just want to get the little icon off of the thing at the top where the time and wifi signal is at
Did you follow the instructions in the link simsaladimbamba posted on how to fully delete an app?

Dude, you've had 4 people give you instructions how to do it in this thread.

Some people don't bother reading or clicking links, they are lazy and want everything spoon fed to them. Let him be, he's like half the population.

**ck Mcafee - Use Kaspersky - Just to be safe - It only costs me 10 seconds in start up time, and is pretty cheap:D
