I found a solution: i did call MCE, i have come to have have complete zero faith in any one in the computer repair industry after being riped off and treated like dog terds in carpet.
I went ahead and did a erase and re-install from the factory CD`s that came with the machine.
I had a 2d party Super Optic Drive installed in a 2004 iBook G 4 that also came with a Disk for a Driver for the Optic Drive. A reply that i received in Apple Discussion forums was that new 2d party Optic Drives do not need a Driver. With this post, Question: I am looking at erasing the Disk and re installing, should i cross my fingers and go for it, or send the G 4 to a shop with a Server to erase and re install. The situation that i am looking at here is (if) the Optic Drive is the only access into the System without external support and the Optic drive does need a Driver and i erase the Disk, how would the Optic Drive co-operate with the System (if) its Driver was in the Disk and is erased with everything else ?. Is there any one with actual experience with 2d party Super Optic Drive from MCE.
The Authorised Apple business that i had install the 2d party Optic Drive butchered the project and i need to go back to square one and re-build the OS correctly.
Thank you.
