Hello all!
I have a 3G iPhone (2nd generation) running version 3.0 firmware. The OSs that I am using are Windows 7 64-bit RC1 and Windows XP 32-bit SP3. I am using iTunes 8.
Every time I try to sync my iPhone I receive the error "MDCrashReportTool.exe has stopped working" and then the sync quits. This happens on both OSs. I've read a number of threads across the web and have tried a number of things:
My iPhone is not jailbroken so I can't SSH into it and perform some of the hacks that have been proposed. Some people have said that resetting and then restoring the iphone from a backup have fixed it. Others have said that they continue to have that problem even after the reset.
Has anyone figured out how to fix (or at least work around) this issue without resetting/restoring?
Thanks for your time!

- Renaming the MDCrashReportTool.exe file. This stops the error message from appearing but iTunes never syncs. It shows the progress bar for a second and then stops.
- Right-clicking the iPhone in iTunes and selecting "reset warnings" -- no difference in behavior afterwards
