MDD 1.25 (2003) sometimes doesn't power on

Hi,
I have two MDD 1.25, a DP FW800 and the 2003 single processor version. The DP FW800 works great (except for still being unable to install OS9, which is another story...).

However the SP 2003 one often just refuses to power on. I press the power button, and the button lights up for a second but then goes off. Other times it just decides it wants to power on though. Any idea what could be wrong with it? I've tried resetting PRAM battery, PRAM, RAM, SMC, etc, but it is quite temperamental. I would like to sell this machine, so ideally need to reliably turn on. Thanks!

PowerMac G4 MDD won't power up

Success!! After a couple of hours trying all sorts of remedies I finally got two MDD G4s up and running. I also got a crash course in MDD symptoms of power failure. Heres a quick list of steps to try. The list is created from hours and hours of reading other forums. In order of importance...

Sometimes mine won't switch, only solution I found that works, you could try remove the battery and power cable, press the power (discharges any residual power I think), leave it half an hour, replace the battery and power cord, press the power button to start. Always works for me, I think it might reset something in the psu circuit protection if the power trips off
