MDD/FW800 hard drive

hey…I have a G4 tower with 2 80GB drives, the factory ATA/100, and a maxtor ATA/66. However, I'm in need of some more storage space. I thought I should fill the other 66 bay bacause its older tech and the speed isn't that big of a deal to me. That way, when I need to uprade again, I'll still have an ATA/100 bay free. However, I can't find new ata/66 drives.

Would a faster drive (ATA/100, for instance) work in the slower bay?

Should I just forget about the /66 bay altogether and go external when I need another drive?

any thoughts on the mater would be a big help

You can use any speed ATA drive with any ATA connection. The drive will and bus will scale to the slower component. I have a FW800 G4 as well, and run an ATA/100 drive on the slower ATA/66 bus with no problems. Get any drive, it'll work fine.
