Hi all...
Just want to inform you about something, which was news for me...
I just managed to acquire a MDD2003 (I've been looking for a backup machine for my primary file server for some time) for a decent sum (including a nice display)...
The thing is, the seller did not know what it was, (so I also thought it was a regular MDD, a DP1,25), and I'm not complaining...
Surprisingly, the noise in this (while noteworthy) is nowhere near the earlier MDD's, the single CPU works (without nap) at a regular 8-10 degrees above ambient (which IMHO opinion means that it can be silenced very efficiently).
So I guess I'm saying that (for a home server) this might be the optimal G4.
My original plan was to make this a backup machine for my DP1,0, but now I'm actually considering taking the server hardware (sata card and disks) out of my current server and letting this baby take over. Or maybe I should just move the CPU card over to the old machine...
No comments needed, but views appreciated.
