There is something called mdimportserver that has started to crash, then being restarted, then crash, and so on continously. The crash log keeps growing steadily.

Please help, what is this and how can I stop it?

It all started after I upgraded my Finale NotePad music notation application to version 2010, so it may or may not be related to the problem. I threw it away, but mdimportserver keeps crashing. My Mac is an old PowerPC iMac G5.

It just stopped. I shut the machine down yesterday, and when it started today, there was no more crashing.

So I opened the Trash and picked up Finale NotePad, but in addition there were four "Recovered files" folders in the Trash. Each "Recovered files" had a subfolder called FinaleMDImporter Temp Files with some Finale files within.

Dear BlueRevolution, yes I have StuffIt installed, and was about to try your fix, but in this case I bet that Finale has a problem.
