Just about to purchase a Western Digital Scorpio 500GB 2.5" SATA 5400rpm 8MB Hard Drive to put into my late 2009 13" Aluminium MBP, and I've just noticed a couple of bad reviews, saying it causes the MBP so stop working properly and freeze
Has anyone experienced this?
Anybody using the same hdd in their MBP?
Anyone know of a fix of this problem?
Cheers
Jack :apple:

I wouldn't worry until you run into problems. Maybe those people who reported those problems have faulty HDDs...

Arghh i dunno whether to order it now!
Anybody had any first hand experience with it?

silly little mechanical spinning discs are technology developed in the 1950s.

time to move on and use an SSD.

i am never going back.

boot time - 7 secs
shut down - 2 secs
similar awesome performance with most tasks using the drive .. copying files, reading files, writing files, all awesome.

save your $$ for an SSD.

in fact, i would prefer a 40Gb SSD to a 10Tb 7200rpm spinning disc.

Unfortunately SSD isnt an option..

Got this fitted last night, all seems to be okay, the noise is quite abit louder than my stock hdd :( it's bothering me a little but I don't know if that's because I'm listening out for it..
