@me.com trouble

Still after MobileMe ended, Apple will not let me change my main ID email (which is currently an @gmail.com address) to my iCloud email (@me.com). Here's what it says when I try to change-

My @me.com address isn't a MobileMe email... it is an iCloud email. How can I change it, and why can't I change it? Thanks!
