Media center not seeing shared files/folders

I recently bought a home media player. And while it sees my pc just fine, and (sometimes) it will recognize my iMac, it does NOT see my shared files/folders.

Can anyone help with this please?
I'm not a newbie-but I am no Mac genius, either, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
