Media + Internet + E-Mail application?

Hey all

Got my mac mini in the living room and wondering if there's an all encompassing application (like Plex) that allows you to use the net, email and play media? Basically so I don't have to use osx for basic tasks (not that I has anything against osx!)

The full os is just a bit overkill for quick tasks.

Thanks, but was thinking of something more elegant.

I basically need an application like Plex but that has e-mail notifications and net browsing. Does such a thing exist?
