I am wondering if there is a way to permanently deregister itunes from the media keys (play, last/next track). I only use spotify and itunes is more like a corpse that is still there for no use.
However the media keys don't work for spotify unless it is one of the top two windows. Meaning that the window was active last. If I switch spaces and use word and maybe somehing else, it forgets spotify is active and the media case do nothing or itunes launches.

I would like to know if there is any setting that can simply replace itunes permanently with Spotify like you can do in Windows with Standard apps console.

I am not afraid of the terminal. I just have no idea where to look.

One of the really annoying things is that when playing Starcraft 2, the media keys for play/pause don't work most of the time and it starts launching itunes. I hate itunes.

Someone over at the apple discussion forums said to use Shift+Option+Play to use it with spotify. Try that out until someone comes up with some sort of solution.
