I have a completed project which I created in Final Cut Pro 6.0.4.
I exported the 4 minute project in several formats and decided to consolidate all my files using Media Manager.
I "thought" I had told MM to copy all the media files to a new location and create a new FCP project which pointed to the new media files. This is definitely NOT what I ended up with.
When I tried opening the new project I got a requester stating:
"The movie file "Raw Niagara 1-Performance.mov" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly."
After cancelling this the "Reading Project" bar shows up for several seconds then I am shown several more requestors asking for several more files which do not exist anywhere on my system.
The only file that I recognized was the original "Raw Niagara 1-Performance.mov" It doesn't exist anywhere on my computer. Other files that it is looking for such as "seqPhilipSolo-FIN-0000001s" are similar to a sequence called "seqPhilipSolo", so I assume they may be render files. However, they do not exist anywhere.
There are several other files which match files which did exist, but now have the letters "kgwv" tacked on to the end of them, and don't seem to load into any application.
I have found a directory containing truncated filenames with incrementing numbers attached to the end of them. They are playable mov files, but non of my fcp projects are interested in using them.
If this sounds very convoluted and hard to follow, it is. I have spent many hours trying to track down each file that the project asks for, and everything appears to be a mish-mash of partial filenames spread across several directories.
Even though the project is completed, the client of course wants some small tweaks here and there.
This is extremely frustrating, and part of the reason I dumped my PC's of a tall cliff and invested in my MacPro and FCP. I thought the Mac side of the world would be a little more stable.
Any ideas?
