Hi,

At the moment I have AppleTV 1 with ATVFlash installed with all my TV shows on the INT HDD and movies on an attached USB HDD. We have a plethora of ipads/iphones/ipods which sync via itunes.

I am a bit sick of converting all my TV Shows with iFlicks (both in terms of effort & time taken). I also dislike how much time it takes to transfer movies from my iMac to the Ext HDD via Cyberduck.

What I want is a media player than can play 1080HD content and does not require encoding. I also want it to store media locally as I have not had a good experience streaming content.

I also need the content to be available on itunes so my wife can sync TV episodes to her iPad and music/photos to our iphones/ipods.

I have tried PLEX/XBMC on a MBP which works OK but crashes moderately frequently and has low WAF. It also means I have to have 2 copies of every TV episode (iTunes will require it to be transcoded to play on iphones/ipads) so kind of defeats the purpose. I did like the 1080 output from a BR disc that I watched last night though.

I have looked at the WDTV gear among others but they seem to be difficult to set up on a Mac network and the GUI seems flaky. I want to have all metadata for my movies and tv shows on the player and most players seem to only do movie tagging.

Any thoughts guys ?? Obviously if Apple release a 1080 player with INT HDD then my life would be easy but .......

Cheers
