Hi,

I'm looking to purchase some kind of media server to replace the NAS (western digital) that has always been slow when streaming 1080p to two Panasonic televisions and overall quite slow at transferring files from a PC for backup. (Our wireless speed is around 80bps, wires is around 120bps.

It looks like synology has some good offering, but at well over £300.

Would Apple's time capsule be capable of acting as a media server to a Mac, PC and Panasonic TV without any additional hardware?

I appreciate any advice.

What codec are you suing for your video?

I have a render farm and I am doing video editing the entire day and even with ethernet video is slow if you stream it and we work with standard definition, not even HD.

Then, one thing are the aspects of your equipment and a totally different thing is the actual performance.

We work with external thunderbold drives and that is it.

Your best bet is to transfer and then play back. Forget about wifi streaming in HD, is unrealistic.
