I am in the process of setting up my home to stream media to include music, movies, home moves and internet TV such as Hulu. I took a stab at this last year with windows home server and never finished the project. I Realized I need to research more before moving forward with this project this time around.

Components: xbox360, ps3, apple macbook, 2 vista lap tops, Desk Top computer windows 7 (2TB storage) , iphone, Airport extreme Router (all N) (1TB storage), comcast 20meg and an xmbc xbox. All of my computers are either N wireless or hardwired to the router and have plenty of performance.

I have dabbled in the past with orb, boxee and xmbc. I just started dabbling with Tversity. I can cut the xbox, xmbc and macbook out of the equation if needed. I can also have a spare desktop I can set up with windows home server again.

So what I am looking at is to set up a reliable media streaming system in my home and if I can access it outside of the house even better. I want to do this once and not beat my head against the wall with trial and error.

I am thinking of setting up my desktop Win 7 with Tversity and use that to stream via my other components. The only thing I don’t like about Tversity is that when you browse for media on the xbox or ps3 it doesn’t show any metadata. However, I do like that I don’t have to mess around with converting media into different supported media for the different components.
So any input, recommended reading or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
