I'm a University student, and with my student loan, instead of buying things i will need to survive, i may have accidentally (on purpose) bought a nice shiny PS3

I have a macbook 2.2 ghz, a netgear DG834G router, and a lovely 60 gig ps3, and i would like to stream my media from my macbook to my ps3, so i downloaded media link, but i can't get it to work.
What i'm thinking the problem is is with my home network, we don't really have one, we just use wireless internet (i'm crap with home networking, my housemate set it up, and he has all his media set up on it on his XP pc, so it's clearly me doing something wrong) and if someone could point me in the direction of what to do in terms of maybe changing/advising me on my home network or my macbook settings, i'd be truly grateful :)

The router page (192.168.1.1) say's that uPnP is enabled

Has anyone else had this kind of problem ?
