Associated Press profiles Jeremy Jaynes, charged with sending out unsolicited e-mail messages, who just got a 9-year jail term recommendation from the state jury.

'"When you're marketing to the world, there are enough idiots out there" who will be suckered in, [Assistant Attorney General Russell] McGuire [who prosecuted the case] said in an interview.'

what do you guys think about the 9 year sentence?

it should've been more. it's not like this guy decided that he was just marketing. he knew he was doing something remarkably illegal and he was doing everything in his power to make sure that nobody found out he was the one behind it all. it's jerks like this guy who have cost the world billions in lost productivity and i'm glad to see he's heading towards the pokey.

Jeremy will certainly have plenty of time to think about what he's done. Maybe other spamers will take notice.

So this is the guy responsible for the 100+ pieces of spam mail I get everyday in my business' e-mail. He should also have to pay for each e-mail he sent and be forced to read each and everyone of them.

I think the duration of his sentence should be however long it takes for him to personally read every single one of the spam messages he sent out.

Only 9 years?

Nine years isn't enough if he comes out and his illegally gotten fortune is still waiting for him.

He should also be fined an amount equal to how much money he and his sister made from spam.

That money should then be invested in companies that are looking for ways to thwart spam.
