Ya, I already saw those. I guess I’ll keep an eye out for any new deals out there. Remember, everyone loves a good deal.

If you are looking for the base 13” Ice Lake MacBook Pro, Adorama has it for $1649 through a promo with Apple Insider. They are in stock and/or dropped shipped by Apple. It’s $1749 less another $100 with the APINSIDER promo code (and another $70 off if you want AppleCare+).

Correct, it depends on the state as mentioned. In Florida they do not collect sales tax.
I hate the stupid expensive sales tax. I remember not that long ago when you could avoid the stupid tax with any online order. The sales tax on my new 2020 MacBook Pro is $135.

Thats why I try to tell people refurb from Apple is only worth it if you cannot find a reseller that will not charge you sales tax, since they usually have a ~$100 less MSRP combined with no tax makes it cheaper then the refurb + tax from Apple, but its definitely becoming less and less of an option these days

Even if Adorama or Amazon did not charge sales tax, many online Apple resellers charge a 10-15% restocking fee for any opened-box buyer’s remorse return. I’m glad Apple does not. Theirs is 14-day return, no questions asked, no restocking fees.

I buy most of electronics from B&H now. I got their Payboo credit card that automatically pays the tax for you as a reward.
Yes, that’s good, but yet another hoop to jump through — applying for yet another credit card. In addition to that, I think they may charge a restocking fee for an open-box buyer’s remorse return.

Picked up base 10th gen 13” MbP config from Amazon as they’re doing $50 off. Not the best deal but likely a painless return process if i’m not satisfied as it was a Prime sale.

Which model did you go for? The 2TB with 16GB RAM or the 1TB with 32GB RAM? I’m assuming you purchased a $2,250 version based on Michigan’s 6% sales tax.

I went with i5/32GB/1TB
on the 10thGen 13" model with the Apple EPP discount.
$2,255.00 — Subtotal
$0.00 — Free Shipping
$135.30 — Estimated Tax
$2,390.30 — Order Total

My budget was $2,000. I went over budget by talking myself into 32GB of RAM. After 24 hours of thinking it over, I cancelled the order because I didn’t want to go into $390.30 worth of debt over something I may want, but not need. In addition to the debt, I’d have to wait over a month for the BTO.

I’d get the base Ice Lake for $1649 from Adorama if I were you. $350 under budget and it will ship on Tuesday.

Good job 32 is overkill.
