I have a MBP and I want to upload pics onto it from my SDcard from my camera. I put it into the memory card slot and i dont think it is recognizing it? Im not really sure what to do. Please help! THANKS

Your SIM card? As in the Subscriber Identity Module? Which can't store pictures? Are you sure? Or do you mean an SD card?

your sim card cannot store pictures and most cameras do not even have a sim card unless it's a cell phone

i recently tried putting the sd card in my mbp and didn't see it on the desktop but when i opened iphoto it was visible their. so i noticed their's a spot in finder prefrences to display it on your desktop. just a guess.

Im going to try that. But the SD card seems like it is smaller than the slot for it on the mbp.

Chances are your camera is using something smaller than the "standard SD"... maybe a mini-SD, or micro-SD. You can get an adapter that you slide the smaller card into before putting it into the MBP.

Do you have a Sony camera? If so, you are using Memory Sticks instead of SD cards.

If you have a Fujifilm cameras, chances are you are using an xD card.

If you have a DSLR, you are using a Compact Flash card.

Check the type.

Just for reference, every current model Canon DSLRs accept SD in addition to CF now (currently listed on their website, not necessarily for sale as older ones are still on the market with vendors), Nikon however seems to only take CF in their DSLRs.

My nikon DSLR (d40) and I'm pretty sure the d60, d90, d3000 and d5000 at least all use SD.

OP, if you are using a sony, you have a memory stick not SD, it's longer and thinner and wont work in your SD card slot (propietry sony format). You'll need an external card reader that takes memory stick.

Thanks! does anyone know a good external card reader for a memory stick pro?

See...that's what I get for being lazy and only spot-checking the Nikon line-up :mad:
