Hello, i am buying new ram for my mid '09 macbook pro following someone stealing it (dont ask, i have no idea why).

I'm usually pretty computer literate but im slightly confused, i have ordered some PC3-12800 however everymac is telling me i would need PC3-8500.

I probably should have checked before i bought it, anyways would this work or will i need to get PC3-8500.

From what i can tell the only differences are clock speed and cycle time but im not sure how it will react to it.

Cheers for any help

Sam

I've seen a few threads where people have tried this, but I don't recall it working with 1600MHz RAM. It's worth a try since you've already ordered it.

Currently I've got 1333MHz RAM in my mid 2009 and it works fine.

Thanks, i will give it a go i guess. no harm in returning something. I was a little bit buying happy because it was on xmas sale from £48 to £24 ah well.

Cheers
