Memory Help Please

A couple years ago, I got some memory sticks (PC2-5300S) to soup up my macbook, I ended up with an extra, and I'm trying to stick it into a mid 2007 iMac that I got yesterday. They should fit (according to my research) but don't and I was wondering why or how to make it fit. Any help would be appreciated.
